    I have a coding background so I am not new to basic ideals of coding, but I know nothing of Objective C, Cocoa, XCode or anything else iPhone apps are made with. I also taught myself PHP without issue and like to have a book around for easy reference (I hold on to my PHP in Easy Steps book for quick reference.)

    Just curious what a good book is for iPhone App development or if I should just go to the Apple forums for the guides they have up there. In glancing at the guides, they tend to be technical without explanation, but maybe I am looking in the wrong areas.

    I look on Amazon and see comments saying most books have bad code, are out of date, write sloppy code without explanation or any number of other things. The ones I think sound the best (but still have faults) are the Sams Teach Yourself iPhone Application Development in 24 Hours - at least for the first 12-14 chapters it has great reviews, Beginning iPhone 3 Development: Exploring the iPhone SDK - has mixed reviews, but seems to be more of an advanced book for Obj C experienced users or maybe try the iPhone Application Development All-In-One For Dummies 7 in 1... though I generally don't care much for the Dummies books because I already have a basic understanding, this might be a good one to get me started since I don't.

    Please only answer if you have some experience with iPhone App development or use some of the languages used in App development (Objective C, XCode, Cocoa...) and hopefully some knowledge of the SDK, though not necessary.

    I have a brand new iPhone 3G, and I want to get a case for it as soon as possible. I was looking on www.apple.com, but I am absolutely overwhelmed with the possibilities. I'm not sure of the quality, or sometimes even what the case is, and an often lack of reviews isn't very helpful. I am going to the AT&T store soon, but until then, do you have any suggestions? Links are great! I am not sure of what
    I want, not knowing whether silicone or hard shell is better for me. I don't often drop things, but I really want something that will protect against scratches, and insure no damage will be done if I happen to have a minimal drop. Anything you can offer is appreciated. Thank you!

      I am on the search for some apps for my iPhone. This isn't a chat question, just some comparing of iPhone apps like an apps trade. I tell you apps i have, you tell me apps you have and i will pick the answer with the best apps. Here are my apps:
      -WordPress: I use this with my job when i make blog posts. Its quick and has photo options as well as the basic text option.
      -iBlessing: I am Jewish and this app helps with food blessing, grace after meal blessings and many other traditonal prayers with a voice saying them as well. i love it.
      -Touchgrind: Touchscreen skateboard that lets you do tricks and unlock new skateboards.
      -Photocards: Take a photo and have a background and send ecards straight from your phone.
      -PAC-MAN lite: The name says it all. Traditional packman with added extras like using the accelorometer to travel or just swipe the finger to travel your PAC-Guy
      -Menorah: Touchscreen Chanukah menorah
      -AIM: Again the name says it all
      -AroundMe: Tells which apple stores, banks, bars, coffee shosp, gas stations and more around you. There is also a search option where you can search a place and it will give you the closest store or whatever. It gives you the address, city, phone, distance, you can also email then and get directions.
      -Wikipedia: Mobile Wiki
      -Bubblewrap: You can just pop bublewrap while saving plastic because its touchscreen bubble wrap. You can also download the pro version and compete for quick cash.
      -Facebook: Mobile facebook. Update status, Message friends, upload photos, etc.
      -Google earth: Just like desktop version.
      -i.TV: Tv Listings and Movie listings as well as streaming media and previews.
      -Urbanspoon: Local restarant reviews.
      -Pandora: Personalized Internet radio
      -Shazam: Identify a unknown prerecorded song.
      -Twitterific: Lets me update my twitter accont on the go
